Then channel it.
Talk it out with someone who has been there. Then take that anger, stress and energy into a workout. For adults who are struggling. No scripts. No judgment.
Everybody has a story. Yours is yours.
Tell it if you want it heard. We are all ears. We do not own your words or your story. You do. We are here to support you and walk with you, with no judgment, ever.
The iron never judged me. Neither did the music.
When nothing else worked, James picked up a weight. It was always there, it could never be destroyed, and he could unload everything he was carrying without hurting anyone or anything.
Music was his other outlet, and it still is. Some songs get him pumped and dialed in. Some open him up. Some calm him down. Sometimes a single solo or riff is all it takes.
Skorpion Strength is what he wishes had existed back then. Someone who has lived it, someone to talk to, and somewhere to put it all. Lift if you want to. Put on your favorite songs while we talk. Whatever helps you unload.
“I will sit in the dark with you and let you use my light till you find yours.”
James Dedrickson & Sarah Perkins, Co-founders
What is peer support?
Peer support is non-clinical. People who share lived experience come together as equals, to give and receive emotional, social and practical support. Nobody is the expert on your life but you.
Rooted in lived experience
We have been there. We have lived it. That is the credential.
Equals, both ways
Support goes both directions. Supporters listen, share where it helps, and learn from you too.
Your boundaries, always
You choose what to share, how much, and when to stop. We hold our own limits clearly too.
Mind first. Then body.
Fitness is as much mental as it is physical. Every session starts from your strengths, including the strength it took to show up.
Unload
Say what is on your mind with someone who has lived it. No script. No clipboard. No diagnosis. What you share stays private, with one safety exception we explain up front.
Channel it
Take the anger, frustration, stress and energy into movement. Some instruction, safety in mind, your pace. It is not a personal training course. We walk with you.
You choose how it works
One-on-one or round-robin group. In person at a gym, park or home gym, or remote. Remote can be a body-doubling session, where you work out at home and we stay on the line with you.
We don't make it about us.
Peer support is supposed to be about you. Not about who the supporter happens to relate to most, or who fits neatly into the one experience a group was built around. We've seen firsthand what it feels like when that doesn't happen, and we built Skorpion Strength to be the opposite of that.
One experience centered.
Everyone else left in the dark.
Every story. Every struggle.
Everyone welcome.
Just because we haven't walked the exact same path doesn't mean we don't get it. At Skorpion Strength, you are not judged. You are not excluded. You belong here.
People lead. Always.
Anti-CCI stands for Anti-Corporate, Clinical and Institutional. It is how we show up for the people we serve.
Not corporate
No sales pitch. No packages designed to keep you paying. Straight talk, fair pricing, real people.
Not clinical
You are not a diagnosis or a chart, and you are not a problem to fix. We start with your strengths and with the fact that you showed up.
Not institutional
No red tape. No forms that feel like an interrogation. Come as you are, at your pace.
Anti-CCI is not a stance against corporations, healthcare providers, or the organizations that fund community-based work. It describes how we show up, not who we are willing to work with.
We've lived it.
James and Sarah didn't come to this from a textbook. They came to it from living inside systems that too often judge people the moment they ask for help, which defeats the whole purpose of asking.
Both know what it is to mask who they really are just to move through a world that doesn't understand how they think. Smiling on the outside while screaming on the inside. So they built what they wished had existed for them, and never did.
This isn't an agency. This is a movement.
Coming soon
Fair, flexible pricing is on the way, with a sliding scale and funded options in the works. Money should never be the reason someone doesn't get support. Get in touch and we'll let you know the moment it opens.
What we are. What we are not.
We would rather be clear with you than impressive. Here is exactly what Skorpion Strength is today.
What we are
- Peer support from people who have lived through their own struggles
- Listening first, with no script and no clipboard
- An optional workout, at your pace, with a supporter beside you
- Our founders have completed Peer Support Specialist training and are working toward Nebraska peer support certification
- A place where you decide how much to share
What we are not
- Not therapy, counseling or treatment
- Not medical care, and not a replacement for your doctor or therapist
- Not a crisis line or an emergency service. For that, call or text 988, or call 911
- No diagnosis, no clinical assessment, no treatment plans
- Not open for sessions yet. Sessions begin once our certification is complete
